Group Starts Petition To Save Schenley High School
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ―
With the fate of Schenley High School up in the air, one grassroots group took to the streets of local neighborhoods today armed with petitions.
The group says they plan to make their voices heard.
They say they will present the signatures they gather to Pittsburgh Public School Superintendent Mark Roosevelt in hopes to slow the process to close the high school.
The group says that they want to know more about the process
"It's not that we're against reform," says organizer, Sarah Jo Antonucci, "but we are against reform without public opinion."
"I think it's important," says James Lillicotch, who signed the petition. "Money spending is public and people should get a chance to vote on it."
Celeste Taylor, a parent of two Schenley students, also joined in the group's quest for signatures.
"I was so moved by all the students wanting to stay together," said Taylor. "Schenley really represents something special."
Stay with KDKA for the latest on this developing story.
