On Halloween, Mark Roosevelt, Superintendent of Pittsburgh Public Schools, announced that he's attempting again to close Schenley High School and move its students out of Oakland into existing Middle School buildings in East Liberty and the Hill District

Here's an idea. It's been suggested that a funding drive could help pay for renovations. I thought perhaps donors could purchase a brick (bearing their name, and year of graduation if applicable). The bricks would be displayed in the sidewalk outside the front door, so future students can see the many people who helped to save their school.

Maybe larger bricks (for a larger donation) could also bear a quote from the donor about why they love Schenley.


An alternative idea would be seats in the auditorium with the donor's name on a plaque.

There is a fundraising committee exploring a variety of options. All ideas are welcome.
